Honiton Agricultural Show
The 135th Honiton Agricultural Show takes place on the first Thursday of August and claims a place among the largest one-day shows in the country. What makes it feel distinct from the bigger county events is the sense that it remains firmly an occasion for the farming community rather than a day out that has drifted from its origins. The livestock are the main attraction, and the people standing ringside during judging often have a direct personal stake in what they're watching.
For the general visitor it's an entirely open and rewarding day. Trade stands, craft exhibitors, and food producers fill the site alongside the competitive rings, and the sheer amount packed into a single day is impressive — equestrian events, horticultural competitions, small animals, and a funfair all run alongside the main agricultural programme.
Honiton is twelve miles from Cullompton along the A373. There is parking on site and the town rewards an extra hour — its antique shops and wide coaching-era high street are among the best in East Devon.
